The San Diego Chargers got off to a fast 8-1-1 start in 1967, but lost their last four games to finish in third place. With QB John Hadl throwing to Lance Alworth, Gary Garrison and Willie Frazier, the offense was outstanding, and the club had a great offensive line to clear the way for running backs Dick Post and Brad Hubbert, a pair of fine rookies. However, coach Sid Gilman’s biggest headache was the defense, which disintegrated down the stretch and cost the club a top finish.
