LOS ANGELES DODGERS

HOUSTON ASTROS

ABC SATURDAY AFTERNOON BASEBALL "Game of The Week" TV Broadcast

The Astrodome, Houston - Saturday September 4, 1965

Thanks to a new discovery and the expertise of Rare Sportsfilms Inc, another rare broadcast treasure is now available on DVD! The partial broadcast of an original Dodger-Astros game from ABC-TV is now available for the first time ever on this new 54-minute B & W DVD made directly from the original kinescope! 1965 was the first year ABC televised major league baseball, and Keith Jackson is also in his first year of MLBB broadcasting. For the first time, an African-American is doing color commentary with Jackson, the only year Jackie Robinson did major league broadcast work! This rare partial TV broadcast begins with reel #2 of 5 as Bob Aspromonte leads off the home second inning for the Astros, and ends after the 5-run Dodger 4th with L.A. having just taken a 5-0 lead. The game then picks up again at the end of the top of the 7th inning and finishes during the Astros 8th inning with one out and the bases loaded as Don Drysdale is called in to relieve Podres.

Even partial-game TV broadcasts from before the days of home VCR's (1975) are very rare. This is the oldest TV broadcast involving the Astros known, as well as the only ABC-TV MLBB game in existence.

To order this DVD of the September 4, 1965 Dodger game at The Astrodome, send $29.95 + $3.65 shipping to:   (Illinois residents must add $2.30 state sales tax).
