1962
DETROIT LIONS

Many Detroit Lions fans look back on the 1962 Lions season with fond memories, as the Lions went 11-3 on the way to their third consecutive Playoff Bowl victory! However, the Game Of The Year (still talked about today) was the famous Thanksgiving Day game at Tiger Stadium in which the Lions dominated the World Champion Packers and handed them their only loss of the season! On this new 31-minute DVD, you'll see the undefeated Packers run up against a fired-up Detroit defense that turns in an almost perfect performance! That day on national TV, tackle Roger Brown constantly blasted into the Green Bay backfield, linebacker Joe Schmidt blitzed Bart Starr into the ground, and the defensive unit kept the Packers out of the end zone until late in the 26-14 upset victory!

This rare film, narrated by the old voice of the Lions Van Patrick, covers all the highlights of the 1962 Lions season, including the 17-10 win over the Eastern Conference runner-up Pittsburgh Steelers in the Annual NFL Playoff Bowl! This original 31-minute B & W film, presented by Falstaff Beer, also shows 1962 NFL action in other NFL Stadiums around the league, such as Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Memorial Stadium in Baltimore and Kezar Stadium in San Francisco!

Before many of the games, you’ll see nice close-up camera shots of several Lions players, such as quarterback Milt Plum, Nick Pietrosante, Carl Brettschneider, Roger Brown, Joe Schmidt, Yale Lary and, of course, Head Coach George Wilson! Also shown throughout the season are Gail Cogdill, Terry Barr, Tom Watkins, Pat Studstill, Gary Lowe, John Gordy, Dan Lewis, Dick LeBeau, Wayne Walker, Alex Karras, Sam Williams, Harley Sewell, Ken Webb, Darris McCord, Jim Gibbons and Dick "Night Train" Lane. NFL stars on other teams shown battling the Lions throughout the season include John Unitas, Jimmy Orr and Tom Matte of the Baltimore Colts, John Brodie, Monte Stickles, Billy Kilmer and Bernie Casey of the 49ers, Bobby Layne of the Steelers and Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Max McGee, Paul Hornung, Jerry Kramer and Herb Adderly of the World Champion Packers!
