"THE ALL-STAR GAME:
FROM RUTH TO MAYS"
(1933 - 1956)

Plus:

"THE 1956 ALL-STAR GAME"
At
Griffith Stadium,
Washington, D. C.

This video was the second tape we ever offered and it continues to be one of our most popular. And no wonder! There are actually TWO different All-Star films on this one tape, a total of 40 minutes of non-stop action from 1933 to 1956.

The first part, "The All-Star Game From Ruth To Mays" is black & white (22 Minutes) and shows highlights of almost every All-Star Game from the first one in Comiskey Park, 1933, through highlights of the 1956 classic. Here are some of the scenes: Managers Connie Mack & John McGraw in '33 and Babe Ruth hitting the first home run in All-Star history; Lefty Gomez vs. Carl Hubbell in '34 and Hubbell striking out Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Jimmy Foxx in succession; a dying Gehrig presenting the lineup card at home plate in Yankee Stadium, 1939, and Joe DiMaggio's first All-Star homer in the game; the Pirates' Arky Vaughn hitting two homers at Detroit in '41, only to be forgotten when young Ted Williams wins the game in the last of the ninth with a three-run shot; Williams' "blooper" homer at Fenway in '46; Ted breaking his elbow at Comiskey Park in '50 and Red Schoendienst's game-wining 14th inning homer; the wild slugfest at Cleveland in '54 with both Ted Kluszewski and Al Rosen hitting round trippers; Mickey Mantle's smash off Robin Roberts at Milwaukee in 1955 and Stan Musial's homer in the 12th to win it. It's a smorgasbord of the greatest plays of the first 24 years of the All-Star Game, many by some of the greatest players in baseball history!

The second film on this tape is the highlights of the 1956 All-Star Game at Griffith Stadium, Washington, July 10, 1956. This tape is in beautiful COLOR and includes great shots of the old ballpark, plus views of the players around the batting cage during pre-game festivities, including all the great stars in both leagues during the 1950's; Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Eddie Mathews, Ken Boyer, Hank Aaron, Johnny Temple, Roy McMillan, Ted Kluszewski, Frank Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, George Kell, Al Kaline, Whitey Ford, Herb Score, Nellie Fox, Harvey Kuenn, Ernie Banks, starting pitchers Billy Pierce and Bob Friend and opposing managers Casey Stengel and Walt Alston. The N.L., on homers by Willie Mays and Stan Musial, beat the A.L. 7-3, although Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams hit back-to-back homers in the sixth inning off Milwaukee's Warren Spahn.

You can get your own copy of both of these rare films together on one videotape for only $29.95 + $5.00 for shipping & handling (Illinois residents MUST add $2.00 sales tax)
