BOSTON RED SOX
"Pride of New England"
"THIRD TAPE OF A SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!" The 1956 Boston Red Sox Highlight film entitled "Pride Of New England" is now available on videotape! This was the third Red Sox film made by the team (we also have the 1954 & 1955 tapes available) and, like the two previous Red Sox tapes, it was made form the original I.B. Technicolor print for outstanding reproduction quality!
See great old shots of Fenway, including winter scenes of the park in the snow, and both close-up and action shots of the plays and players of 1956, including Ted Williams, Tom Brewer, Billy Klaus, Willard Nixon, Dick Gernert, Faye Throneberry, Frank Sullivan, newcomers Mickey Vernon and Bob Porterfield, and rookies Dave Sisler and Don Buddin. Narrated by former Red Sox announcer Curt Gowdy, the tape covers spring training at Payne Park, Opening Day festivities, Jimmy Piersall day at Fenway, on the field presentations to Mel Parnell for his no-hitter and a re-enactment of the final out, and a unique look at 19-game winner Tom Brewer at home with his family. Also shown throughout the film are great shots of stars on other clubs playing the Red Sox during the season, such as Early Wynn, Al Kaline, Minnie Minoso, Don Larsen, Billy Martin, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle and Casey Stengel (who gets tossed out of a game over a disputed call on Mantle's triple/home run).
You can receive your own beautiful color copy of this rare film for only $24.95 plus $5.00 for FIRST CLASS shipping. (Illinois residents must add $2.00 for sales tax.)
