Plus:

1954 Detroit Lions Highlights
and
1954 Cleveland Browns Highlights

The 1954 NFL Title Game, the 1954 Detroit Lions Highlights and the 1954 Cleveland Browns Highlights are available for the first time on a new 1-hour, 36-minute DVD! These original films have now been restored by Rare Sportsfilms and all three are now included on this huge new 1 1/2 hour+ DVD! The Lions highlight film, narrated by Van Patrick and Jim Leaming and presented by Miller Brewing Company, and the Browns highlight film, narrated by Ken Coleman and produced by John Borza, each show the top games (see below) from each team's regular season.

Head coach Buddy Parker's defending World Champion Lions clinched the West with two weeks still to go in the season, but the Browns got off to a rough start in 1954 and lost two of their first three games. After that, however they only lost one more game - that to the Western Champion Lions in a driving snowstorm at Cleveland in the last game of the regular season. All this is covered in the two team highlight films presented on this DVD.

Winners over the Browns in the last two Championship Games (1952 and 1953), the Lions are looking to set an NFL record for being the first NFL team to ever win three straight World Championships! The Browns are now in their league championship game for the 9th straight year, counting their wins in the old All-America Conference (this feat will never again be duplicated). Quarterback Otto Graham had said this would be his last pro game. The Browns are slight 2-point underdogs in Cleveland, and the Lions score first on Doak Walker's first quarter FG. After that, however, the Browns can do nothing wrong and cruise to an overwhelming 56-10 victory! Touchdown passes from Graham to Ray Renfro and Darrell Brewster have the Browns up 14-3 at the end of the first quarter. A 52-yard run by Lew Carpenter sets up Detroit's only touchdown in the second quarter, but by halftime the Browns have scored three more touchdowns to run the score to 35-10 (Graham scores two himself and passes to Renfro for another). Cleveland holds the Lions scoreless the rest of the game, while continuing to pile on the points. Graham and Fred Morrison score in the third quarter and rookie Chet Hanulak adds a final TD in the fourth quarter ... What a finish to a fabulous career for Graham! The Cleveland crowd gives Otto a well-deserved standing ovation when he is replaced by backup QB George Ratterman at the end of the game!

On this new DVD, Browns fans will enjoy seeing all the players from the fabulous 1954 team and Lions fans will also see their heroes from 1954. Throughout, you'll see Lions Bobby Layne, Tom Dublinsky, Doak Walker, Joe Schmidt, Dorn Dibble, "Hunchy" Hoernschemeyer, Harley Sewell, Dave Middleton, Bill Stits, Sonny Gandee, Jim Martin, Jug Girard, Carl Karilivacz, Bill Bowman, Lew Carpenter, Lou Creekmur, Jim David, Jim Doran, Leon Hart, Jack Christiansen, Gil Mains, Thurman McGraw, Les Bingham, Lavern Torgeson and others!
